The Meximutt Project

A BAPBR initiative dedicated to tackling Mexico's street dog crisis and finding rescued dogs loving homes in the U.S.

After dedicating over a decade to improving the lives of pit bulls through Born Again Pit Bull Rescue (BAPBR), founder Angela Adams’ journey took an unexpected turn after a volunteer trip to Mexico.

Over 18 million dogs in Mexico live on the streets, facing illness, malnourishment, and the daily struggle for survival. Limited access to affordable spay and neuter services perpetuate this endless cycle of overpopulation and suffering. After witnessing this overwhelming crisis firsthand, Angela made the bold decision to leave her life in Portland behind to help solve this problem.

The Meximutt Project was born from this leap of faith: a mission to tackle overpopulation at its source while connecting rescued dogs with loving families in Oregon.

Our mission

Though our work has evolved beyond pit bulls, our core mission remains unchanged: saving as many lives as possible by keeping dogs off the streets and out of shelters. Whether through comprehensive spay and neuter programs or finding the perfect forever home in the U.S. for street dogs in Mexico, our commitment to helping every dog live their best life has never wavered. This is prevention-based rescue in action—stopping the crisis before it starts, one dog at a time.
